So You Want to Adopt a Bengal Kitten from Moonshine Bengals...here's what you need to be prepared
Read this before Applying for you kitten...Application Below

1) Kittens are raised on a 100% Raw Diet

A raw diet is the most natural and healthy diet for a cat, period.  It's what they were born and designed to eat.  From all the research I've done this past couple years, it's the only diet that I recommend for cats.  Kibbles are full of carbohydrates, highly processed, often times come from non human grade food sources, cooked at high temperatures (so much it depletes all the nutrients, which have to be added back in unnaturally) and often contain fairly high amounts of fruits and vegetables, which are not at all natural for a carnivore. All my cats have been fully transitioned to a 100% raw diet and kittens raised on it often times will not eat your typical commercial foods, as they don't see it as food.  I will provide you with all the information and resources you need to feed your cat raw, but be prepared BEFORE. you bring your kitten home if you will order pre-made raw food or be making it yourself!

2) Kittens are Naturally Reared

What is natural rearing you ask?...Natural rearing is when the kittens are raised naturally from their mom's milk, weaned onto a species specific, 100% raw diet, and not given the normal vaccines/deworming protocols that veterinary clinics normally recommend. I have experienced way too many reactions and sickness to the shots and vet treatments, which usually occur right at the time the kitten is scheduled to go home, so based on personal experiences, a lot of dedicated research, recommendations from other more experienced breeders, I have decided to not vaccinate my young kittens.  I will provide you with all this information and many resources to guide you in deciding if you would like to vaccinate your kitten, how often/which shots you do and don't get, but I will no longer be doing any shots prior to 16 weeks here at the cattery. All kittens will come spayed/neutered, have current fecal and blood test,  and be checked out with the vet for overall health prior to going to their homes.

3) Litter

Litter is another common question I get from kitten buyers.  All young kittens are trained on pine and oatmeal when very young.  As the kittens get a little older, I add in Dr. Elseys non scented, clumping litter.  All my cats seem to prefer the natural clay, unscented clumping litter when given the choice, but all kittens will come exposed and trained on pine and natural, unscented clumping clay cat litters.

4) All parents are Health tested and HCM tested prior to kittens going home
A
ll breeder cats are tested for any genetic conditions and all have clear test results. HCM tests are hard, as our nearest veterinary cardiologist is 5 hours away and winters up north can make travel challenging int the winter months.  Ideally, all cats are tested prior to breeding, but that doesn't always work out with nature and natural heat cycles of the females.  I don't guarantee an up to date HCM test at time of breeding, but I will make sure all females are in for their updated HCM tests prior to kittens going home, so if anything does pop up, it can be addressed.  All my breeder cats do come from breeders that do regular HCM test, so chances are low, but never zero, which is why we do regular testing to ensure we are breeding healthy cats.

5)  Kittens from Moonshine Bengals tend to be Highly social, energetic, and lets just say it, needy at times

My program is highly focused on highly social, high energy, adventure cats that you can travel with and take anywhere with you.  There are always going to be exceptions, but the majority of my cats, especially the males, tend to be extremely social and cuddly, and often times the females aren't too far off from the boys in sociability  and cuddling. Getting these kittens is more like what most people describe getting a puppy like.  They want to be with you all the time, are very playful, and a very interactive.  All kittens are raised front and center in our living room, exposed to all normal life activity and sounds, and socialized to our other cats and dogs, so you will find your kitten will most likely adapt very quickly in your home and be playing and exploring day 1.  The most common comment I get from kitten buyers is how they can't believe how social and confident their kittens are from the moment they bring them home. Having a highly social cat is pretty fun and entertaining, but the downside is they can be a bit more demanding and needy, so be prepared for a cat that wants cuddles, pets, play, and attention all the time.
